Important Vertical Exercises Information
Vertical Exercises
Improving your vertical leap is significant especially if you want to become a valuable basketball player. If you jump too low, you cannot be considered an effective player and so you must do some vertical exercises.
For those who are already part of a basketball team, it would be best to train with the rest of your teammates under the supervision of a competent coach. Your coach can guide in the various vertical leap exercises and vertical jump workouts. Always keep in mind that exercise is very important but you should also not overwork your body. The exercises or workouts can be performed several times a week but not everyday. You see, you also need to give your body muscles adequate rest.
Some of the very good examples of these exercises are jump rope vertical and vertical sit ups. If you are not familiar with these exercises, try to learn more about them. Perhaps your coach can also show you how the exercises are done.
You can do these exercises at home or in the gym but before you perform any of the exercises, you must do some warm ups first.
Squats are very common and it helps in enhancing the muscles of your upper legs. You can perform squats with weights or without weights. If you plan to use weights, you must perform the squats properly; otherwise, you can injure your lower back.
Calf raises - you need to exercise your calves regularly since it is a very significant leg muscle that helps to ensure higher vertical leaps. If you disregard your calves, you will execute weak jumps. You can use a calf machine to work on your calf muscles.
Skipping rope - basketball players are always seen skipping rope. This exercise improves rhythm and it will also train your feet for the jumping impact. Get a skip rope and start skipping.
Vertical jumps - to improve vertical jumps, you must do it frequently. Bend or crouch and then launch as high as you can. If you do this often, you can increase your jumps by several inches. Try to visualize the ideal jump that you want to achieve and aim for it.
Ab exercises - the stomach or the abdomen area is another factor that can affect the height of your jump. The center of gravity of the body is the lower back and abs. If these parts are weak, you will not be able to jump high. To tone the core muscles, you can do ab exercises, leg raises, and crunches.
It does not really matter whether you do simple or complicated vertical exercises. The key to high leaps is consistency. You need to exercise 2-3 times a week so that you can improve your body's strength and agility. You must be able to execute explosive power and that is only possible if you can convert your strength into power. Basketball is a strenuous game and your body should be in perfect shape. Follow the exercises mentioned and show off your improved vertical leap.
